Volunteers packing PB and J lunches

Friday Night Lunch Packing

Every Friday night from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Food for Thought gathers volunteers to make PB&J lunches for our neighbors. We are currently scheduling individuals and groups of volunteers to assist in this effort. If you would like to help, please email our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@feedtoledo.org for more information and/or to get scheduled.

Food For Thought volunteers serving downtown

Community Engagement

Each Saturday morning, we get to know our neighbors as we share the lunches we’ve packed with people throughout the downtown Toledo area. Individuals and groups accompany Food For Thought on our normal bus stop routes as we provide food, water or coffee — as well as conversation with the people we meet — sunshine or snowfall. Saturday distribution will meet at our distribution site, the Cherry Street TARTA terminal at Cherry Street and St. Clair and runs from 10am-12pm.

Fresh food at a Food For Thought pantry

Mobile Food Pantries

Food for Thought operates a series of mobile food pantries in the Toledo area throughout the month. Many of them require additional volunteer support to operate. Our food pantries provide supplemental food assistance to people in need with the presentation of a photo ID. At our pantries, patrons are allowed to choose from a variety of items, including shelf stable foods, dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, and frozen meat. Warehouse Help

Food For Thought’s warehouse at Lott Industries acts as a storage space for food and the hub of our mobile pantries. We are seeking volunteers to lend a hand in our warehouse for a couple of hours a week. Be part of the action! We promise you’ll have fun in a safe warehouse environment with our staff. Contact our office here to learn more and schedule shifts.
